12th December 2009
Greeting Cursillo Family and Friends
Firstly a wee bit of news before I take the opportunity to thank you.
The Secretariat
Many changes have happened in your leadership team over 2009 with some
of the Secretariat positions changing during the year. We saw Jill Woods
move to a new role both within the secretariat and the diocese after 6
years in leadership over the Wellington Cursillo family. We bless Jill for
her faithfulness and care. Peter Totman moved into a semi retirement
role but continues to have a watching brief over communications and
resources. Mary Jones-Ovenden also retired from the position of
Registrar in December. We are so grateful to Mary for all she has done over
a number of years especially with her hospitality for meetings. We will see
some further changes in 2010 as Anne Aspden steps down after 6 years
from her role as Diocesan Spiritual Director. Anne has done such a wonderful
job in holding the spiritual temperature of this family foremost but I am
sure she will appear in other areas of this ministry. We can speak more
about that next year.
On the inwards side of the Secretariat this year comes Phillipa Wardhaugh as Registrar in Mary’s role. Mark Wing accepted the position of Te Ara Pono Diocesan Director. Jill Woods continues on the Secretariat as Wgtn/Waiapu Cursillo Coordinator. We are in the process of appointing a new treasurer, more on that early next year as well. So it has been a year of change. Check out the key people page for more information.
Visioning Day
Your Secretariat met on Saturday 5th December for a visioning day and
out of that came many thoughts and goals for growing this ministry both
within our homes and throughout the diocese. Please pray that your
leadership team will grow in wisdom and courage as we move forward together
to assist in reaching the goals of the Diocese. To Jesus be the glory.
Diocesan Lay Directorship
Finally it has been an honour to lead you since August in this Ministry.
Jill Woods has modelled what servant leadership is all about and I will
endeavour to walk that path with God’s grace. Enjoy the season of Christmas.
Gather around you what is more precious than gold or silver and that is the
love of the Father, the knowledge that His son, Jesus is our
Saviour King and that with the enabling power and grace of the Holy
Spirit we can effect change in our environment. Tell the story to all
that we have a risen saviour who forgives our sins and equips us for the
journey ahead.
May the Lord bless you and keep you.....
(Numbers 6:24-26)
On behalf of the Secretariat may I ask our gracious Father God, in the name
of Jesus, His son, to bless you over this special season? When often the
goal is on preparation for Christmas Day and all the deadlines we place
around us, it is my hope that we continue to desire to draw closer to the
realisation that we are all sons and daughters of the Most High God who
shared His son Jesus with us in the form of a baby. It is that anniversary
we remember on the 25th – the day we learnt to say to all humanity
“Emmanuel: God is with us.
Do not forget the King is coming for His bride.....and soon.
.....................and He is coming, ready or not, but better if you were.
Prepare the way of the Lord.
